Nightfall Characters
I searched on the forums and FAQs but I didn't really solve my question. I would like to know if you will be able to play the Prophecies characters on Nightfall because since I don't have any copies of Guild Wars of any chapter, I'm wondering if I should buy Nightfall or Prophecies, but the Prophecies characters and core professions are looking way more fun to play.
So are teh Prophecies characters able to play inNightfall, I mean as a character you can choose? |

I believe the answer to this is "no", if you own Nightfall only, your character will look like Nightfall themed characters, if you want Prophecies looks, you would need to buy this, and then port your characters over to Elona (assuming you buy nightfall, and add it to your Prophecies account)

If you buy prophecies you'll be able to create a character from any of the core professions: monk, ranger, warrior, necro, ele, mesmer
If you buy nightfall you'll be able to create a character from any of the core professions plus the nightfall professions of dervish and paragon. If you buy both you can create a dervish in the nightfall campain and take him over to the prophecies campain. If you without any chapter (proph/factions/nightfall) you will be unable to access the chapter specific areas, skills and facial features. |

Yes. You can play prophecies characters in Nightfall, even if you don't have Prophecies, but they will look like characters from Nightfall. The 6 core proffesions (Prophicies proffesions) will most likely be available to all expansions.
However, if you want to create the proffesions from Factions, I think you have to buy Factions in order to do so. |

Except that Nightfall isn't out yet, it is due the 27th. If money isn't an issue then I'd say start now with Prophecies and then you can add other chapters as desired. If you only have money for one then Prophecies still isn't a bad choice but you might want to wait for Nightfall's release.

Yeah yeah but let's say money isn't a problem...then do you think when Nightfall will be out then nobody's gonna be on Prophecies anymore?

If every GW player left Tyria when Nightfall goes live, Satan would be a very chilly man.
I really doubt peeps will just drop the Prophecies campaign just becuase a new campaign goes live. GW newcomers that start with Nightfall will probably want to get the first 2 games eventually. Also many Skills, items, and "Green" goods are unique to Tyria. You would either have to buy the game or the PvP Skill Packs to make use of them (and even then, the Skill Packs are STRICTLY PvP) |

Also, don't forget considering getting Factions (not as your first one though, because it doesnt really teach you how to play). Factions was really, really good, as long as you didn't rush through it. Way better than Prophecies IMO. |
